The League of Women Voters of Hays County will host a meet-and-greet reception for San Marcos CISD trustee candidates at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 10 at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins St.
Voters will choose a trustee for three single-member districts: District 1, in which incumbent Juan Miguel Arredondo is running against challenger Brian Henderson; district 2, in which incumbent Margie Villalpando is running against challenger Elizabeth Trevino; and district 3, in which incumbent Lupe Costilla is running against challenger Mariana Zamora.
District 1 lies east of Interstate 35 and primarily south of Staples Road, including the Sunset Acres and Hills of Hays neighborhoods. District 2 lies primarily east of Interstate 35 including the Wallace Addition and Martindale. District 3 lies primarily between Hunter Road and Interstate 35 including the Westover, Dunbar, Victory Gardens and Rio Vista Terrace neighborhoods.
The meeting will also include presentations on a $107.3 million bond package proposal for the San Marcos school district and two bond package proposals totaling $31.7 million for the city of San Marcos. The presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
