The Hays County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a disturbance during which an 18-year-old woman described as an innocent bystander was shot early Sunday at Quail Creek Country Club.

The woman was taken by ambulance to an Austin hospital where she was listed this afternoon in stable condition, said Lt. Dennie Gutierrez, the sheriff’s office spokesperson. Authorities have not yet released the shot woman’s name.

Deputies are looking for suspects, one of whom is described as a thin black man wearing a green jacket and beanie. The man was last seen fleeing in a white-colored sedan with aftermarket rims and tires, Guttierez.

Deputies were called to the country club, 2701 Airport Highway 21 in eastern San Marcos, at about 1:10 a.m. Oct. 23 in response to a call about a disturbance. “The investigation revealed that several subjects were involved in an argument which led to shots being fired and the victim being injured,” Gutierrez said.

Investigators declined to say anything else about the incident on Sunday.

Anyone with information is asked to cal the sheriff’s office Criminal Investigations division at 512-393-7896 or Hays County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-324-TIPS (8477).
