FROM SUBMITTED REPORTS

AUSTIN — Bridge and overpass maintenance will close multiple lanes of a four-mile segment of Interstate 35 in San Marcos starting Sunday and lasting through Thursday, the Texas Department of Transportation announced today.

On Sunday and Monday nights, the southbound interstate will be squeezed to one lane between Texas 123 and Centerpoint Road while crews replace bridge pavement. On Tuesday through Thursday nights, the work will close lanes on the northbound interstate between Centerpoint Road and Texas 80. All closures will be in the left and center lanes between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Austin-based Lone Star Paving Co. is the contractor for the $372,000 project.

Road signs have been placed alerting drivers of the closure. Drivers should consider alternate routes or allow extra time to travel through the area. TxDOT provides traffic updates on Twitter and on its website.
