DRIPPING SPRINGS — The Texas Department of Transportation will close Old Fitzhugh Road at Ranch Road 12 in Dripping Springs for about a month beginning on Wednesday, July 27.

During the closure, traffic will not be able to turn onto Old Fitzhugh Road from Ranch Road 12 and will be detoured to Mercer Street to access businesses and residences along Old Fitzhugh Road.

The intersection is expected to re-open before school begins in late August, TxDOT spokesperson Kelli Reyna said.

Austin-based Capital Excavation Co. is repaving the roadway and completing other improvements. Closing the intersection will allow the contractor to complete the job about two weeks ahead of schedule, Reyna said.

  1. This is an illegal action, as they did not give a 30 day notice to the businesses on that road. This is costing our friends and neighbors their livelyhood.
