Two young men face felony intoxicated assault charges for separate traffic accidents that seriously injured three men on July 4 near downtown San Marcos.
At about 9:45 p.m. Monday, a 2007 Ford pickup truck traveling southbound on Guadalupe Street struck a 1998 Honda passenger car at the intersection with Martin Luther King Drive. Eric Vincent Sandoval, a 32-year-old Buda resident, was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge in serious condition.
The pickup truck’s driver, 21-year-old Universal City resident Joseph Anthony Jude Gomez, was arrested and charged with intoxicated assault causing serious bodily injury, a third-degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison. He was released from the Hays County jail on Tuesday after posting a $20,000 surety bond, jail records state.
At about 11:45 p.m., 36-year-old San Marcos resident Michael Jerome Lochman and 31-year-old Buda resident James Kain Jones were struck by a 2012 Chevrolet pickup truck following a neighborhood block party on MLK Drive.
The driver, 20-year-old Georgetown resident Tyler Coy Ware, faces two charges of intoxicated assault causing serious bodily injury. He was released from jail on Wednesday after posting $40,000 in bail.Email | Print
