SAN ANTONIO — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch through Thursday morning for Hays, Caldwell and a 31 other counties in central and south Texas.

Residents should anticipate rainfall of three to six inches across the region with as much as 10 inches in some places, the weather service said at 11 a.m. today.

Rivers are creeks are already swollen and “very saturated soils will further enhance the possibility for flash flooding and increase the likelihood of rapid flooding … Any additional rains will likely result in rapid run off and accumulation of flood waters,” the weather service advisory states.

The flash flood watch is in effect through 7 a.m. June 2 for Atacosa, Bandera, Bastorp, Bexar, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Comal, De Witt, Dimmitt, Edwards, Fayette, Frio, Gillespie, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hays, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, Lavaca, Lee, Llano, Maverick, Medina, Real, Travis, Uvalde, Val Verde, Williamson, Wilson and Zavala counties.

POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS FLOODED
