FROM SUBMITTED REPORTS
Henry + the Invisibles will headline the first installment in this year’s Keep San Marcos Beautiful Spring Concert Series on Thursday, April 7 at San Marcos Plaza Park, 401 E. Hopkins St.
Described as a “onemanphunkband,” performance artist Henry Roland loops and layers of vocal harmonies, funk guitar, grooving bass, soulful keyboards and powerful percussion to create original high energy dance music that sounds like a solid five-piece funk ensemble.
Pre-concert events — recycling, composting, and growing your own food — start at 6:30 p.m. at the park stage, located at the corner of C.M. Allen Parkway and Hopkins Street. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
Alcohol consumption is permitted for people older than 21. City park rules prohibit Styrofoam, glass and smoking.
Representatives from community organizations will talk about local and curbside recycling, composting, backyard chickens and gardening, said Amy Kirwin, the city’s Community Enhancement Initiatives manager.
Free parking is available along streets within walking distance of the concert, as well as at City Park. Parking at the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce and the Old Fish Hatchery is reserved for volunteers, vendors and sponsors.
