Local microbreweries lined up for first downtown Brew Hop

The San Marcos Main Street program has released the list of microbreweries whose products will be featured at the first ever Brew Hop craft beer tasting in downtown San Marcos on April 1.

Among the list are three downtown microbrews and more from the Central Texas region. They include: Homebrew Supply, The Root Cellar Café & Brewery and Sean Patrick’s Pub, all in San Marcos; Middleton Brewing, between San Marcos and Wimberley; New Braunfels Brewing Co. in New Braunfels; Twisted X Brewing Co. in Dripping Springs; Seguin Brewing Co. in Seguin; and Darkside Fermentation in San Marcos.

The Brew Hop is the newest addition to the 24th annual Swing on the Square festival weekend event April 1-3, 2016. The microbrew tasting will take place from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 1.

Craft beer enthusiasts will start their journey at Kissing Alley, 119 E. Hopkins St., and hop along 12 downtown shops, all featuring local microbrews and paired food. Tickets for the Brew Hop are now on sale for $25 each at www.smtxswingfest.com and include a commemorative event glass, craft beer tastings, food, entertainment and more.

How is BS Brewing not at this? Two of my favorite beers are by them, and they’re in Seguin.

Sad that BS Brewing won’t be there. Two of my favorite beers are by them, and they’re in Seguin.

Oh No…don’t tell me I missed this great party. Beer-tasting and a chance to mingle with the college students! WOW! There are certainly not enough scheduled activities for us locals, especially anything held on the Square, thus I am sooooo very sorry that I missed this great event. I’ll pass the word to as many local citizens as possible so we’ll be able to attend next year.

I mingled with crowds of mostly local citizens and less college students than you might think. Thought it was a wonderful event for many in the community. Plenty of good folks from 30-75 that I saw enjoying themselves.
