FROM SUBMITTED REPORTS

Northbound lanes of Interstate 35 were closed this morning as emergency crews clean up a semi-truck crash on the overpass near Texas 80. Motorists are asked to exit at Texas 80 or use Texas 21 as an alternate route.

One of the trailers the semi was pulling struck the center wall of the interstate at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday. The resulting crash knocked over a light pole that damaged a car in one of the southbound lanes and briefly caused a lane closure that has since been reopened.

The driver of the semi was transported to Seton Medical Center-Hays with minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The San Marcos Fire Department HAZMAT team is on the scene to clean up the spilled fuel from the truck and oversee the handling of freon tanks in the cargo of one of the trailers. The gas is nonflammable and does not pose a hazard to the public.

Wreckers were on scene to clear the crash at 5 a.m.
