FROM SUBMITTED REPORTS

San Marcos police and city marshals are among officers from more than 300 law enforcement agencies across Texas conducting a warrant roundup beginning Saturday, March 5.

“This is an opportunity for residents who may have unpaid traffic citations or other active warrants to take action now and avoid a hold on your drivers license renewal or the embarrassment of arrest,” deputy city marshal Tracy Balusek said.

A list of local people with active warrants — currently running at 55 pages — is posted on the San Marcos Municipal Court website. (The most recent list as of Feb. 19 can be downloaded here, but the document is periodically updated and amended.)

Fines can be paid at the municipal court, located in the Hays Government Center at 712 S. Stagecoach Trail. Payment is accepted in the form of cash checks, money orders, cashier’s checks, Visa, Master Card and Discover. The court’s customer service window is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with extended hours through 8 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Credit card payments can be made over the phone during regular business hours or 24/7 on the court’s website when full payment is being made. Residents who pay by mail should include their driver’s license number and case or ticket number to ensure their account is credited.
