Hays County sheriff’s deputies caught two burglars in the act of stealing a safe from a San Marcos area home this afternoon, authorities said.

At about 2 p.m. Thursday, a resident reported a burglary in progress at his home in the 300 block of Woodrose Street in the Regency Mobile Home Park on Post Road, Lt. Jeri Skroki said. The homeowner provided a 911 dispatcher with a description of burglars he observed on his cell phone via a surveillance camera. Officers were on the scene within a minute, Skroki said.
