After meeting for nearly five hours in executive session, San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District trustees adjourned a special meeting Monday evening without naming an interim superintendent.

The board interviewed three candidates for the interim position: Sylvester J. Perez, a former SMCISD superintendent who retired as the San Antonio ISD superintendent in October 2014; Gregory A. Jung, the retired Dripping Springs ISD assistant superintendent for learning and innovation; and Marc H. Walker, a retired Comal ISD superintendent.

Trustees tentatively plan to meet again on Jan. 19, less than two weeks before San Marcos CISD Superintendent Mark Eads’ last day on the job. Eads, who announced his retirement in September, had applied for the interim superintendent job but withdrew from consideration.
