FROM STAFF REPORTS
Two men suspected of robbing a person at gunpoint Monday afternoon in a Texas State University parking garage are being held at the Hays County jail on bail set at $100,000 each.
The university’s police department issued an alert through its emergency notification system on Dec. 7 after responding to an armed robbery complaint at about 4:20 p.m. on the top level of the Blanco Hall parking garage, 701 Moore Street.
Mark Cooks, an 18-year-old Plano resident, and Xavier Le Darian McGain, a 19-year-old Austin resident, were arrested about 2½ hours later at a convenience store on Aquarena Springs Drive, university police Capt. Daniel Benitez said. Neither man is enrolled at Texas State, Benitez said.
Cooks and McGain are charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony punishable by five to 99 years in prison. McGain is also charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession.Email | Print
