FROM SUBMITTED REPORTS

The San Marcos Police Department raised more than $1,200 for testicular cancer awareness during the “No-Shave November” campaign.

Participating officers and staff members grew beards in November and donated money to the Testicular Cancer Foundation, an Austin-based organization that provides education and support to young men to raise awareness about testicular cancer.

The department presented a check for $1,210 to representatives of the foundation on Dec. 2.

Testicular cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among males between the ages 15 and 35. The foundation supports families of testicular cancer patients and shares its resources with the medical and healthcare communities, schools and various young men’s groups.
