FROM SUBMITTED REPORTS

Early voting for the Nov. 3 general election — including municipal elections in San Marcos, Buda and Woodcreek and trustees in the Wimberley school district — continues until Friday, Oct. 30 at designated early polling places.

Election Day is 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 3 at a different set of polling places than those used for early voting. State law requires registered voters to provide photo identification before voting early or on election day.

For San Marcos City Council Place 5, voters will decide between real estate investor Scott Gregson and retired social service agency administrator Frank Arredondo, a former mayor and city council member. For San Marcos City Council Place 6, voters will decide between incumbent Shane Scott, who owns an import automobile mechanic shop and moonlights as an independent filmmaker, and Melissa Derrick, a Texas State University administrative assistant who co-owns a small computer service business with her husband.

Also in San Marcos, residents are voting on two proposed amendments to the city charter. Prop. 1 would prohibit the city from continuing to add artificial fluoride and its derivatives to its municipal water supply; Prop. 2 would enhance verification requirements for circulating petitions seeking an election change the charter.
