KYLE — The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested a man suspected of committing sexual assault in the Dallas area on Tuesday night at an apartment complex in the 4900 block of Cromwell Drive in Kyle.
Cory Shane Harris is from Irving and recently relocated to Austin, according to a U.S. Department of Justice press release. Harris was convicted of sexual assault in 2008 and failed to maintain his registration as a sex offender when he relocated.
Officers made the arrest after conducting surveillance at the location Harris was temporarily residing at until his identity was confirmed and the arrest could be made, the release stated.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Harris is currently being held at the Hays County jail awaiting extradition to the Dallas County jail.
“Fugitive sex offenders will remain an enforcement priority for the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force,” Robert Almonte, U.S. Marshal for the Western District of Texas, stated. “We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to hold these fugitives accountable.”
