Founded as the Bobcat Athletic Foundation in 1971, the Bobcat Club is the primary fundraising apparatus for Texas State University Athletics. In 2014, 1,121 members contributed about $1.2 million to the university, about a fifth of the $6.5 million cost of providing scholarships for 396 intercollegiate student-athletes.
Annual contributions have increased more than four fold over $215,000 raised by the foundation in 2009, three years before Texas State’s football program graduated to NCAA Division I-A.
Depending on one’s level of buy-in, members enjoy perks that range from car decals and email newsletters to premium parking and luxury suite-level seating at Bobcat Stadium. Dues start at $100.
The Texas State Alumni Association also sponsors football watch parties in other Texas cities. For Saturday’s season opener against the Florida State Seminoles, alumni chapters are hosting game day gathering in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Kerrville.Email | Print
