FROM STAFF REPORTS
Anthony Stahl, who administers an Adventist Health System hospital in Florida, has been named chief executive officer of Central Texas Medical Center beginning Oct. 5.
After a career as an Adventist Disaster Relief Agency executive, Stahl entered health care management in 2006 as human resources and marketing director at Frank R. Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits, Calif. He became human resources executive director for the Adventist Health System’s Florida Hospital Heartland division in 2012 and was promoted to vice president of support and ancillary services the following year.
Since 2012, Stahl has served as administrator of Florida Hospital Heartland in Lake Placid and vice president of the hospital’s Lake Placid, Sebring and Wauchula campuses. During his administration, the hospital expanded its surgical services and became the top-performing emergency department among the Adventist system’s 45 hospital campuses in 10 states.
“I believe that it is a sacred calling to lead as a hospital CEO. We are blessed to have Anthony answer that call, and we have confidence in his focus on our mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ to those we serve and especially in the San Marcos community,” said Don Jernigan, president and chief executive officer of the Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System.
Stahl replaces Sam Huenergardt, who became chief executive officer at Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker, Colo. in July. Jim Boyle has served as interim CEO in the intervening weeks.
Stahl’s “deep experience in leading employees, implementing effective quality and safety initiatives, and growing clinical services are all reasons why he is the perfect fit for CTMC,” said Ken Finch, the chief executive officer for the Adventist system’s southwest region who serves as the CTMC board chair.
Stahl holds a doctorate in leadership and a master’s degree in administration from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich. and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Walla Walla College in College Place, Wash. He has two sons with Karina Stahl, his wife of 21 years.
