AUSTIN — Interstate 35 — both the north- and south-bound main lanes between St. Johns Avenue and U.S. 183 — will be closed to traffic Sunday morning so Austin Energy can install new power lines, a Texas Department of Transportation spokesperson said this morning.
The closure is anticipated to last for about 15 minutes, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:45 a.m. Aug. 23. In addition, the outside lanes of access roads in both directions will be closed between 6 a.m. and noon on Sunday.
Police will conduct a rolling roadblock to stop traffic while the power lines are strung across the highway. Police officers will be on the scene starting at 5:30 a.m. After Austin Energy’s work is complete, traffic will resume and crews will complete the installation of the lines, the spokesperson said.
