FROM SUBMITTED REPORTS
An emergency water repair is requiring San Marcos water customers north of the Blanco River to boil water before consuming it. The repair is required after a contractor hit a 16-inch water main on River Ridge Parkway.
The city expects the boil water notice will be lifted by 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7. Water customers in the impacted area were notified using the city’s mass notification phone system. They will be notified again when it is no longer necessary to boil water. Water customers with question can contact the city at 512-393-8010.
Tips for area under boil water advisory:
Boil tap water even if it is filtered. Most kitchen and other household water filters typically do not remove bacteria or viruses.
Brush teeth with boiled or bottled water. Do not use untreated tap water.
Household dishwashers generally are safe to use if the water reaches a final rinse temperature of at least 150 degrees or if the dishwasher has a sanitizing cycle.
To wash dishes by hand:
It is safe to do laundry as usual.
Pets can get some of the same diseases as people. It is a good idea to give them boiled water that has been cooled.Email | Print
