Police are looking for a man who a witness says surreptitiously shot video of a child and then exposed himself at a burger chain in south San Marcos earlier this month.

At about 7:20 p.m. July 4, another customer at the Whataburger, 4040 S. Interstate 35, claims she saw the indecent act and alerted the child’s parents, notified the manager and called police. Soon thereafter, the suspect leaving the Centerpoint Plaza strip center in a 1990s model Dodge Caravan.

He is described as a white man with gray hair and blue eyes, standing about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He was wearing a burnt orange UT Longhorn hat, a gray t-shirt and black jogging shorts.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Det. Robert Elrod at 512-753-2132 during business hours or the San Marcos Police Department’s non-emergency dispatch number at 512-753-2108.

CORRECTION 5:09 p.m. JULY 21: An earlier version of this story misstated the date of the alleged indecency with a child incident at Whataburger. It happened the evening of July 4, not July 5.
