11:13 a.m. TUESDAY, JUNE 16: Anticipating the likelihood of rain borne by Tropical Storm Bill, city of San Marcos officials this morning cancelled the screening of “Annie” and this rest of this week’s Movies in Your Park festivities.


1:07 p.m. MONDAY, JUNE 15: Movies in Your Parks, the city’s annual series of outdoor family film screenings, will feature the 1982 movie musical “Annie” at sunset Tuesday, June 16 at San Marcos Plaza Park.

Pre-movie activities for children begin at 7:30 p.m. and the movie begins as soon as the sun has set.

Moviegoers should bring blankets and lawn chairs to the park, 206 North CM Allen Parkway.

This year’s movie schedule includes:

June 16“Annie” (1982)
June 23“Cinderella” (2015)
June 30“The Mighty Ducks” (1992)
July 7“Maleficent” (2014)
July 14“Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible,
No Good, Very Bad Day”
July 21“Goonies” (1985)
July 28“Dolphin Tale 2” (2014)

Hosted by the city of San Marcos Parks & Recreation department, the series is sponsored by Grande Communications, Walton Development & Management, The Hitch and Mensor Corp. Concessions are offered by Texas State University’s Association of Recreation Enthusiasts.

The San Marcos Lions Club will provide free screenings for children to detect early signs of some vision disorders.
