San Marcos Mercury | Local News from San Marcos and Hays County, Texas

A state contractor will work nights for the next two weeks to rebuild the heavily traveled stretch of Hopkins Street between N. LBJ Drive and Charles Austin Drive in San Marcos.

Between June 8 and June 30, drivers should expect nightly lane closures between the hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. while crews remove the existing surface and put down asphalt on the four- and five-lane arterial. Work will start downtown at the Hopkins-LBJ intersection and move east to Charles Austin.

At least one traffic lane in each direction will be open at all times, city officials said. San Marcos-based Hunter Industries Ltd. is the Texas Department of Transportation contractor for the project.
