WIMBERLEY — After flying over destroyed homes along the Blanco River in Hays County, Gov. Greg Abbott said he was awed by damage caused by the floodwaters’ “relentless tsunami-type power.” Earlier on Monday, Abbott declared a state of disaster in Hays, Caldwell and 22 other counties.

“The state of Texas has taken brisk action in dispatching all available resources to aid those affected by this severe weather system, and I strongly urge all Texans to exercise every possible precaution to ensure their safety and the safety of their families and neighbors,” Abbott said.

He was joined in Wimberley by State Rep. Jason Isaac, County Judge Bert Cobb, Pct. 3 Commissioner Will Conley, Hays County emergency management coordinator Kharley Smith and other officials.

  1. I would like to know what impact, if any, the new construction along River Road had on the flood waters along River Road.
