FROM SUBMITTED REPORTS
This just in from Texas Department of Transportation spokesperson Mark Cross:
The Texas Department of Transportation has closed the Ranch Road 12 bridge over the Blanco River in Wimberley indefinitely, due to bridge damage. The closure is effective immediately.
Motorists should plan on taking an alternate route for the immediate future. Taking FM 150 from Kyle to FM 3237, or the reverse, is one possible alternative route to and from Wimberley.
The early Sunday morning flooding of the Blanco River caused damage to the bridge. An engineering analysis determined it is unsafe for motorists to drive over the bridge until repairs can be made.
TxDOT crews will be working to complete repairs as soon as possible.
11:50 a.m. MONDAY, MAY 25: The Ranch Road 12/Blanco River bridge will be open for “limited access” during the day and closed 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. until further notice, Hays County spokesperson Laureen Chernow said. Driver should expect delays when entering Wimberley.
