FROM STAFF REPORTS

Flooding has washed out a low-water crossing on York Creek Road, forcing its closure until repairs can be made, Hays County officials said this week.

Following heavy rain over the weekend, the Hays County transportation department inspected low-water crossings over York Creek and determined that erosion had made the third crossing east of Interstate 35 on York Creek Road unsafe for traffic.

The road has been closed between Soechting Lane and Francis Harris Lane. While the road is closed, officials suggest these detours:

  • From the east end of York Creek Road: Take Francis Harris Lane north to Old Bastrop Highway or south to FM 1101 in Comal County to get to either Interstate 35 (westward) or Texas 123 (eastward).
  • From the west end of York Creek Road: Take the Old Bastrop Highway or the Interstate 35 northbound frontage road.
