This just in from Texas Department of Transportation spokesperson Mark Cross:

This week motorists will see construction begin on the State Loop 82/Aquarena Springs Drive overpass at the Union Pacific rail line intersecting with the roadway west of Interstate 35 near Texas State University’s Bobcat Stadium.

The project includes constructing a bridge structure to span the existing rail line to create an overpass which will provide two-12-foot travel lanes in each direction. Access roads will include a 12-foot inner lane and a 14-foot outer lane in each direction with six-foot sidewalks.

Loop 82 traffic will be impacted between Charles Austin Drive and Thorpe Lane for the duration of the project. The $20.7 million project will be constructed by Jordan Foster Construction LLC and will last until late 2017.
