The San Marcos Parks & Recreation department will host a family-friendly community gathering beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, May 22 at Capt. Paul Peña Park, 1209 Crystal River Parkway in the Hills of Hays neighborhood.

The free event is part of the Party in Your Park series, held four times annually at alternating locations around town. The series is sponsored by San Marcos-based Grande Communications

Planned activities include gaga ball, 9 Square in the Air, giant Jenga and other yard game. Members of the Texas State University’s Ultimate Frisbee intramural team offer lessons and lead a few games. Healthy snacks will be served.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or folding chairs to sit on, if they want.

The next park party will be held Aug. 21 at Dunbar Park, 801 W. MLK Drive. For information, contact youth services coordinator Victoria Van de Ryt at 512-393-8249.
