City engineers and contractors will meet with residents at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31 at Victory Gardens Park, 300 Roosevelt St., to discuss upcoming work in the Willow Springs Creek drainage channel.

In the event of rain, the meeting will be moved to Southside Community Center, 518 S. Guadalupe St.

Improvements to the channel include installation of a 24-inch wastewater line, drainage improvements, landscaping, and construction of a maintenance path along the top of the embankment. Smith Contracting Co. Inc. of Austin was awarded the $2.7 million contract by City Council March 3. Construction is scheduled to begin in late April and last about 18 months.

The drainage channel work is associated with the Victory Gardens Subdivision Improvements project, also scheduled to begin later this spring.
