Ten children, a bus driver and a bus monitor were transported with minor injuries by EMS and a relief bus to local hospitals when a commercial vehicle rear-ended a school bus in San Marcos Monday evening.
The driver of the commercial truck was transported to University Medical Center-Brackenridge with serious injuries. The bus driver, monitor and 10 children were taken to Central Texas Medical Center.
The parents of several other bus riders took their children to local hospitals after picking them up from the scene.
Witnesses reported the collision, which occurred on SH 21 near the intersection with Reynaldo Way, at 5:13 p.m. Monday, March 2. First responders arrived seven minutes later.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers arrived soon and took over as lead investigators of the scene. As of 8 p.m. Monday, police and state troopers were maintaining lane closures on Texas 21 and directing traffic around the scene.
