Downtown business owners and the general public are invited to a roundtable discussion of local media leaders on how businesses can more effectively work with journalists to tell their stories to larger audiences.
The San Marcos Main Street program will host the Meet the Media Coffee Talk 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28 at the program’s new headquarters, 317 N. LBJ Drive.
Panelists will include San Marcos Daily Record managing editor Jillian Beck; SMTX Magazine editor Rick Koch; San Marcos Mercury editor and publisher Brad Rollins; University Star editor Odus Evbagharu; Community Impact newspaper’s San Marcos-Buda-Kyle editor Brett Thorne; and San Marcos Corridor News advertising and marketing director Eric Bonar. The discussion will be moderated by Kristi Wyatt, the city of San Marcos’ new communications director.
Wednesday’s free event will be followed by a workshop titled “Marketing to Locals” at noon Monday, Feb. 2. The workshop is the first in a series being hosted by the Main Street program this spring on topics that include storefront design and display; finance; and social media.
Workshop admission is $5 for downtown business owners and employees and $25 for the general public. Pre-registration is required; tickets can be bought through the city’s website.
