The Rattler’s Donation Closet, a program that helps San Marcos CISD’s poor kids find school clothes and shoes, is holding a five-day donation drive starting Monday, Nov. 17.

Since 2011, the Rattler’s Donation Closet has helped provide clothing to San Marcos CISD families after faculty noted that students were missing school because they did not have appropriate clothing, said Georgeanne Logue, the school district superintendent’s secretary who is helping to organize the drive. Seventy-two percent of students in the San Marcos district come from families living below the federal poverty line, Logue said.

Louge said Rattler’s Donation Closet is in particular need of essentials such as underwear, socks, toothbrushes and other hygienic products. With colder weather already upon Central Texas, the organization is also asking community members to donate hoodies.

Donations can be dropped off at any San Marcos CISD campus through Friday, Nov. 21. For information, visit the organization’s Facebook page.
