FROM STAFF REPORT

On the eve of Labor Day weekend, the Hays and Caldwell sheriff offices say they will rigorously enforce parking restrictions on public roads east of San Marcos at popular staging points for tubers and other water-bound visitors.

In particular, the agencies will be quick to tow vehicles left within “no parking” areas near the Old Bastrop Highway bridge at the San Marcos River and the Old Martindale Road bridge at the Blanco River, Hays County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Phillip Taylor said today. The zero tolerance policy will start Friday and be in effect through Monday.

The crackdown is intended to “prevent traffic related issues in the area of the river crossing that can cause dangerous situations for not only motorists, but people enjoying the river in that area,” Taylor said.

People who discover their vehicle has been towed can contact the Hays County Sheriff’s Office at 512-393-7896 or the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office at 512-398-6777 to find out where it is impounded.
