The city of San Marcos issued building permits for 196 new single-family homes through the end of July, valued at an average of $155,860 each.

Overall, single-family residential home construction totaled $30,548,558, 42.5 percent of all new construction within the city limits so far this year. Most activity has been concentrated in the Blanco Vista, El Camino Real, Retreat at Willow Creek and Cottonwood Creek neighborhoods.
