The San Marcos Arts Commission will play host to its monthly art market, Art Squared, this weekend at the Old Hays County Courthouse square in downtown San Marcos.

The market features area artists and artisans selling works that include pottery, paintings, sculpture, stained glass and jewelry. The market will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 12.

Live music performances will begin at 1:30 p.m. The playlist includes AJ Downing, a Wimberley Americana and alternative country singer-songwriter; Marghi Allen, a Colorado Springs, Colo. blues artist; and Austin Mayes, an Austin country and roots artist. The performances will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Art Squared is held adjacent to the weekly farmers market on San Antonio street. Operated by the San Marcos/New Braunfels Farmers Market Association, the locally grown fruits and vegetable bazaar will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This month, a children’s book drive organized by the Boys and Girls Club of South Central Texas will be held in conjunction with the art market. Donated books will be delivered to Native American children on the Pine Ridge, Crow Creek, and Rosebud Indian reservations in South Dakota.
