Ricardo Perez Hernandez, 1942 to 2014

Ricardo Perez Hernandez, a 71-year-old resident of San Marcos, died at his home on Friday, May 2. He was born on August 22, 1942 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.

A 1966 graduate of San Marcos High School, Hernandez earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology at Southwest Texas State University. He worked as a pharmacy technician at Hillburn’s Pharmacy and S&L Mart Pharmacy in San Marcos until his retirement in 2004.

Hernandez is survived by his mother, Juanita Perez Hernandez, of San Antonio, a brother and five sisters: Jose M. Hernandez and his wife, Norma E. Hernandez, of San Antonio; Maria Luisa H. Cowgill of McAllen; Elvira H. Ximenes and her husband, Robert Ximenes, of San Antonio; Elizabeth H. Hudson and her husband, Dewitt Hudson, of Arlington; Mirthala H. Ortiz and her husband, Raul Ortiz, of Mansfield; Alicia H. Tibbs and her husband, Ben Tibbs, of Hempstead. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Thomason Funeral Home, 2001 Old Ranch Road 12 in San Marcos. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the service. A private interment will be held at a later date.
