Tonight’s Best Bet

Santa arrives by classic car tonight at Sights and Sounds of Christmas and the evening features the musical talents of San Marcos High School Jazz Band, Carolyn Wonderland and Guy Forsyth, just to name a few. Get a genuine campfire biscuit, admire the lights and then head over to Riley’s Tavern to see country’s original outlaw, Billy Joe Shaver (pictured). The septuagenarian is still full of vinegar, softened by his honey-sweet modesty and colossal talent. He’s the songwriter’s songwriter and has been covered by everyone from Willie to Waylon to Dylan. But, he’s no hunk of coal anymore; he’s that genuine diamond now.
