The high school football season ended in Hays County Friday night, when the Hays Rebels lost their second-round playoff game to Leander Rouse, 35-10, in Round Rock.
The Rebels finish the season 9-3.
Hays couldn’t move the ball on the ground, rushing for only 20 yards in 27 attempts. Rouse rushed for 324 yards.
Rouse led all the way and held a 35-10 lead before Hays finally scored a fourth-quarter touchdown on a four-yard pass from Jeff Jordan to Hayden Cagle.
Hays won its playoff opener against San Antonio Brackenridge, 45-20, last Friday at Bob Shelton Stadium.
Wimberley, the only other Hays County team to reach the playoffs, lost its playoff opener last week at home against La Vernia, 21-7. The Texans finished the season 4-7.
