Tonight’s Best Bet
It’s hard to believe it’s a Monday with all the great choices for music tonight. Jordan Minor and Charlie Stout will be at Cheatham Street Warehouse tonight and they are always good for a few tunes to make you tap your toes and a few that will put a tear in your beer. The Texas State Monday Wednesday Percussion Ensemble and Panorama Steel Band will drop the fine beats and start up your heart. If we had to pick one thing , though, it would be Motel Mirrors (pictured), appearing tonight at the early gig (6 p.m.) at the Triple Crown. Band founders Amy LaVere and John Paul Keith started playing together with a chemistry that reminds one of the great singing duos of the past: George and Tammy, Conway and Lorretta, Louis Prima and Keely Smith, Sonny and Cher, Peaches and Herb (okay, getting a little carried away, here but you get the drift–they’re great.). Joined by drummer Shawn Zorn, Motel Mirrors will delight you with their harmonies, music and charm. It’s classic country with a modern twist and this is a don’t miss gig.
