The Texas State women’s basketball team began the season with an easy win, beating Huston-Tillotson, 73-45, last Friday night at Strahan Coliseum.
Erin Peoples scored a game-high 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Bobcats, while Jacqueline Jeffcoat and Raven Burns added 11 points each.
Peoples scored 12 of her points in the second half and Jasmine Baugus added nine to help Texas State overpower the Rams, 50-25, and pull away with the victory.
Texas State opened the game shooting poorly, but forced 16 Huston-Tillotson turnovers in the first half as the teams exchanged the lead through the first 16 minutes. The Bobcats finally opened up a 23-20 lead at halftime, then blew that lead open to 48-29 in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
The Bobcats will play again Wednesday evening at Texas (7 p.m.). The game will be televised on the Longhorn Network.
