The Texas State soccer season ended Friday with a hard fought 1-0 loss to Western Kentucky in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.
The Bobcats lost, 1-0, finishing their season 8-9-1.
The two teams played 88 minutes of scoreless soccer until Hill Topper freshman Iris Dunn found the back of the net to put Western Kentucky on top. Dunn’s goal in the 89th minute was her seventh of the season, assisted by Haley Baldridge.
Texas State ended the game with nine shots, compared to 10 by the Hill Toppers.
With the victory, Western Kentucky will face off against South Alabama, which won the first semifinal match of the day in a shootout against Arkansas State. The teams are set to play at the Bobcat soccer complex at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon for the tournament championship.
