9:15 a.m. THURSDAY, OCT. 31: The Blanco and San Marcos Rivers are beginning to recede this morning after heavy rains in Hays County caused early morning flooding and evacuations in San Marcos.
While numerous roads remain closed, some are reopening as the flood waters recede this morning. The city’s emergency notification system notified some 3,000 people of flooding conditions, and 100 people took shelter at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins.
Heavy rain overnight in Hays County caused flooding and evacuations along the Blanco in San Marcos, including along River Road. The Blanco was expected to crest in San Marcos around 8 a.m. Evacuations by boat were reported.
Residents were evacuated on Riviera Street on the San Marcos River, on River Road between the railroad trestle and Aquarena Springs, Blanco River Lodge, 1975 Aquarena Springs, River Road, Hacienda Mobile Home Park, The Grove, Hackberry Street, the Lodge at Southwest, and Blanco Star Mobile Home Park.
No injuries have been reported.
Temporary shelter is available at the San Marcos Activity Center, 501 E. Hopkins.
