For years, the San Marcos and Kyle chambers of commerce have hosted dueling happy hour mixers on the same Thursday nearly every month. This afternoon, the two chambers are partying together with a Halloween costume contest and business social at Servpro of San Marcos.

The event will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at the host company’s warehouse, 1222 Old Martindale Road in San Marcos. Servpro specializes in fire and water damage restoration and other clean-up services.

This afternoon’s event is one of the first since Kyle chamber directors named Julie Snyder as their new chief executive officer, replacing Ray Hernandez who left the post in April to head the Lewisville Chamber of Commerce in north Texas.

Snyder was previously operations director for the Sacramento, Calif.-based California, Nevada and Arizona Automotive Wholesalers Association. She started her new position in Kyle on Sept. 3.
