The San Marcos Area League of Women Voters will host candidates for two city council seats at a debate tonight. The annual event, a highlight of the Hays County political season, starts at 7 p.m. at the San Marcos Activity Center.
In place 1, insurance agency owner Bill Taylor and landscape designer Lisa Prewitt are running to replace Kim Porterfield, who declined to run for a third term.
In place 2, incumbent Jude Prather, the Hays County veterans services officer, is fielding challenges from university career advisor Mason Murphy and retired professor Thom Prentice.
The debate will not be live-streamed but video will be posted on the San Marcos Mercury afterward.
