Texas State’s volleyball team lost a second consecutive five-set match Friday night, falling at Strahan Coliseum to Arkansas State after winning the first two sets.
The Bobcats dropped to 13-8 overall and 3-3 in the Sun Belt Conference after losing by scores of 24-26, 21-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-12.
Texas State’s Shelby Vas Matt notched her sixth double-double of the season and her third in a row with 15 digs and 10 kills. Alexandra Simms led the Bobcats with 17 kills. Amari Deardorff had 16 kills, only three errors and a .333 hitting percentage.
Sierra Smith fiished with 24, an ace and five assists, Caylin Mahoney doubled up with 44 assists and 12 digs.
The Bobcats will try it again Sunday at Strahan Coliseum against Arkansas-Little Rock (1 p.m.) The Trojans are tied with Western Kentucky for first place in the Sun Belt at 6-0.Email | Print
