SUBMITTED REPORT

The Hays County Commissioners Court has proclaimed October as Turkeys Tackling Hunger Month in Hays County and encourages residents to donate to the Hays County Food Bank to help those in need have a Thanksgiving dinner.

Last year, in addition to serving more than 18,000 people throughout the year, the Food Bank provided a Thanksgiving meal to more than 2,900 families, reaching 11,100 people. Jerry Gracy, the food bank’s executive director, said he expects the food bank to feed more than 3,000 families this year at Thanksgiving.

A donation of $20 provides a Thanksgiving meal to feed an entire family. Donations of any amount are appreciated and accepted on the food bank’s website here or by mailing a check to Hays County Food Bank, 220 Herndon St., San Marcos.
