STAFF REPORT

The Texas State soccer team notched a 1-0 win on its home field Friday against Georgia State, remaining unbeaten in the Sun Belt Conference.

Senior Kelsie Townsend scored off of a corner kick by Tori Hale in the 89th minute to give the Bobcats the victory.

Texas State now is 5-5-2 overall and 2-0-1 in the league.

The Bobcats scored on their eighth corner kick of the game. Hale set up for the corner on the right side of the field and sailed a pass to Townsend, who headed it into the goal for her first score of the season.

Texas State goaltender Natalie Gardini finished with four saves and the shutout. The Bobcats outshot Georgia State, 16-9, and attempted four more corner kicks.

The Bobcats will be back on their home field Sunday afternoon against Western Kentucky (1 p.m.).
