A daily rundown of live entertainment in and around San Marcos tonight, compiled by Mercury Scene Editor Hap Mansfield and our content partners at San Marcos Tonight.
Well, there surely is a lot to do tonight what with the popular Mike and the Moonpies at Cheatham Street and Texas State’s Concert Band and Symphonic Winds Concert and Poetry Night at Wake the Dead Coffeehouse. The documentary-drama “Catfish” will be presented free of charge at Texas State’s Alkek Library, too. In fact, each venue tonight has its charms. However, if you want to hear the amazing capacity of human voices and one guitar you’ll head to Riley’s Tavern to see the Hillbilly Jug Band. The group rotates the singing leads and each one has a distinctive style of his/her own. They are all a joy to hear. You’ll feel like you’re at Luckenbach with experts who know how to sing a good tune and sing for the sheer pleasure of it. Their music tells the story and it moves with no frills, all substance.
