The Texas State athletics department has been saying, correctly, that it is a member of the Sun Belt Conference since Aug. 1. But it really starts to happen Friday.
That’s when the Bobcat volleyball team will play the first competition for any Texas State team in the conference. Louisiana-Lafayette (ULL) will visit Strahan Coliseum (6:30 p.m.) to make it real.
The Bobcats will follow with another Sun Belt match Sunday at Strahan Coliseum (1 p.m.) against Louisiana-Monroe (ULM). Texas State and ULM both were members of the Southland Conference from 1987-2005.
Friday’s match will feature two of the top three three Sun Belt volleyball teams, so far, based on overall records. ULL is 10-4, while Texas State is 10-5. Western Kentucky also is 10-4. ULM, Texas State’s Sunday opponent, is 4-12.Email | Print
