San Marcos police are looking for suspect they say attacked a woman, without provocation, as she smoked a cigarette outside a vacant convenience early Tuesday, Aug. 27.
According to an advisory issued by Hays County Crime Stoppers, the woman was smoking a cigarette outside her car in front of a defunct Phillips 66 gas station at Aquarena Springs Drive and the west Interstate 35 access road.
A man walked up to her and said something that she didn’t understand. As she turned away to get back in her car, the man struck her in the face twice, once with a large beer bottle. Authorities describe her injuries, which included a possibly broken nose, as serious but not life-threatening.
The suspect is described as a being a slender man, standing 5 feet, 9 inches tall; his face was unshaven and he wore about an inch of grey or brown hair on his head. The victim told investigators that he was wearing a light-colored T-shirt and dark trousers at the time of the attack.
San Marcos police detectives say they have no leads in their investigations.
Hays County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that helps San Marcos police find the felony suspects. Tips can be phoned in at 1-800-324-TIPS or submitted on the organization’s website here.
Informants can offer their tips, and claim their reward without being identified and without being forced to testify in court, officials say.
